My Favorite Hiking Fit

There are SO many options when it comes to outdoor gear. I feel like I’ve been around the block with trying different options but there is ONE outfit that I just coming back too. I am an outfit repeater but hey that is just being iconic in my opinion.

I want to show it off below and let you know so you can snag it while stock is still high. I bought these pants last year this time and they sold out so quickly.

The FIT break down

SUN BUSTER 1/4 ZIP

This sun shirt can go from water days to long trail miles, and it’s hands-down my favorite. It’s insanely lightweight and somehow keeps me cool even in the peak of summer.

There’s a small pocket in the back that’s perfect for a car key (or your phone if you’re traveling light), and I love how versatile it is—you can unzip it for a little more sun, or throw the hood up and cinch it down when you’re trying to stay fully covered.

I probably put close to 300 miles on this shirt last summer alone. I did end up replacing it this year… but only because I spilled post-hike buffalo wing sauce all over the front and nothing could save it 😅

Honestly, even being white, it holds up surprisingly well to dirt and wear. 10/10 piece that’s always in my pack.

LOS DOS ZIP OFF PANTS

Why bring both shorts and pants on a trip when you can have both in one?

These pants are not only so cute, but ridiculously functional. I wore them on the Tour du Mont Blanc and pretty much every hike around Washington last summer.

I love how stretchy the waistband is (major comfort points), plus the pockets are actually useful. And the best part—you can adjust the bottoms to wear them as full pants or cinch them into joggers depending on the vibe.

They don’t make my exact colorway anymore, but this purple is SO cute.

ALTRA LONE PEAK 9’S

These shoes have seen me through three summers now. I hike a ton every year and usually get around 200–300 miles out of a pair before replacing them.

I’ll be honest though—I probably swap them out sooner than I need to. I just really value having solid grip on the trail, especially on steeper or looser terrain.

THE UNDERGARMENTS

WOOLY Underwear

For long days on trail, underwear from these guys is my go-to. I usually grab the thongs or the bikini briefs.

They’re made with 95% merino wool and don’t use plastic, which I love. They’re super breathable and hold up really well on long, sweaty days.

Since they don’t have elastic, I’d recommend sizing down—they’ve got a bit of natural stretch to them.

If you’re looking for other merino base layers, I also have a few of their shirts that I run in all the time and love.

And they’re a Seattle-based company, which makes me love them even more.

Darn tough socks

I’ll always stand by these guys. Not only do they have fun options in all sizes they have a lifetime warranty. I’ve cashed in on it a few times already and will probably always stick to this brand to help keep me blister free!

At the end of the day, my hiking “fit” is really just about feeling good out there. If I’m comfortable, confident, and not thinking about my gear every five seconds, that’s a win. These are the pieces I keep reaching for year after year, and the ones that have held up through a lot of miles, weather, and trail snacks.

If you made it this far, you’re my kind of person 🫶
