The Perfect Weekend Getaway in Port Angeles: Winter edition

If you’re looking for the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and small-town charm, a weekend in Port Angeles is just the ticket. Nestled between the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, this little gem on the Olympic Peninsula offers everything from boutique shopping and delicious dining to epic outdoor adventures. Here’s my guide to the ultimate weekend in Port Angeles, based on my own incredible trip.
Friday: Arriving & Exploring Downtown
I arrived in Port Angeles on Friday afternoon and checked into my Airbnb, Evergreen Incline with Pac West Stays, a cozy retreat about 15 minutes from downtown. After settling in, it was time to explore!
Downtown Port Angeles is full of charming shops, and we spent the afternoon strolling through them. One of my favorite stops was MOSS, a beautifully curated store filled with all things PNW—think cozy vibes, local goods, and nature-inspired decor. We also wandered through some book and thrift stores, finding hidden treasures along the way. Another highlight was Moxie Boutique, a super cute clothing store that was serving mimosas while we shopped—talk about the perfect shopping experience!
After some retail therapy, we stopped at Country Aire Natural Foods to grab ingredients for dinner. This grocery store is a dream for anyone who loves organic and naturally sourced foods. We picked up everything we needed to make a cozy ramen dinner at the Airbnb, then headed back to cook, unwind, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Saturday: Spin, Shopping & Spruce
Saturday morning started with some movement at Onyx, where we took an amazing spin class. The energy, the music, and the overall vibe made for such a fun and energizing start to the day.
After freshening up back at the Airbnb, we returned to downtown Port Angeles for another round of window shopping before heading to dinner at Spruce. This spot is a must-visit for its fresh, seasonal menu and creative cocktails. I ordered the Mount Storm King cocktail, and my friend and I shared a few delicious entrees. It was the perfect way to wrap up a relaxed yet fulfilling day before heading back to the Airbnb to rest up for our big adventure on Sunday.

Sunday: Ski to Sea Adventure
Sunday was all about embracing the incredible outdoor opportunities that Port Angeles has to offer. We started the day early, grabbing coffee at Rise and Grind, a cute and delicious coffee stand, before making our way up to Hurricane Ridge for a ski tour.
Fun fact: Hurricane Ridge is home to the only ski resort located within a National Park! You’ll need a National Park pass to access it, so make sure to purchase one ahead of time or at the entrance. The avalanche danger was high during our visit, so we opted for a mellow tour out to Hurricane Hill, soaking in the breathtaking views. If you’re not a skier, this would be an excellent snowshoe trail as well!
After our ski tour, we headed back to town for a quick and delicious lunch at Fiesta Jalisco, a fantastic Mexican spot. Then, it was time to switch gears—from snow to surf!
We rented surfboards and wetsuits from North by Northwest and drove over to Salt Creek Recreation Area to surf at Crescent Beach. This spot is perfect for beginners, with sandy shores and fun, approachable waves. Keep in mind that you’ll need to purchase a wristband for beach access, so be sure to grab one before heading out.
We spent a couple of hours playing in the waves before heading back to the Airbnb for a well-deserved evening of relaxation. We made dinner, then ended the night with a round of Parks, a cute hiking-themed card game that was the perfect way to close out our adventure-packed weekend.
